Cookie policy
Last updated: 28 October 2026
This policy explains the cookies and similar technologies (such as local storage and tags) used on the Elio website at eliostudy.com and in the Elio app at app.eliostudy.com. It is part of our privacy policy.
How we use them
- By default, only what the site and app need to work. These are technical and do not require your consent.
- Visits are measured without cookies. Cloudflare Web Analytics stores nothing on your device.
- Advertising cookies and tags run only if you accept them. Until you do, none are set and no advertising tool is loaded.
Your choice
The first time you visit, a bar at the bottom of the page asks whether you accept advertising cookies.
- Accept turns them on. Reject keeps them off. Both are one press.
- Closing the bar keeps them off, exactly like Reject.
- Choose lets you decide separately for measurement and for advertising.
- Scrolling or continuing to browse never counts as consent.
- We remember your choice for six months and do not ask again during that time unless something changes.
- You can change your mind at any time from Cookie settings at the bottom of every page.
You can also delete or block cookies in your browser's settings. Blocking the technical ones in the app will sign you out and may stop parts of Elio working.

elio:handoff:session | Session storage | Carries the exam session you chose on the website into setup | Technical | Until the tab closes | Not needed |

With your consent to advertising, the app can send events (starting setup, creating an account, choosing a plan) to Meta, TikTok and Google from our server. These events are switched off at present: none is sent. Nothing extra is stored on your device for them either way. See section 2.7 of the privacy policy.
In the Elio app for iPhone and iPad
The native app is not a browser and sets no cookies. It loads no advertising tag, no analytics SDK and no third party tracker of any kind, so nothing in it asks for your consent to storage and nothing in it can be turned off here.
What it does store on your device is only what it needs to work:
| What | Where | What it does | Type | Lasts |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Your sign-in session | The device keychain | Keeps you signed in between launches | Technical | Until you sign out or delete the app |
| Your chosen palette, and whether the opening animation has played today | App storage | Remembers two settings so the app opens the way you left it | Technical | Until you delete the app |
| Your device's push token, if you turned study reminders on | App storage, and our database | Lets your reminder reach this device | Technical | While reminders are on for this device |
Purchases are handled by the App Store, in your Apple Account, and the app never sees a card number. See section 2.5 of the privacy policy.
Changes
If we add a cookie or tool that needs consent, we will ask you again before it runs. The date at the top shows when this policy last changed.
